Liquor License and Your Mobile Bar Vendors

Liquor License and Your Mobile Bar Vendors

Fully Licensed Bar Companies

Working with a mobile bar company that is fully licensed in your state ensures your event, venue, and guest service meet the legal requirements of your state.

If you are not selling by the glass/tickets you are not required to have a day of permit from the state. Therefore, you can hire a company that does not have a full license and there are many that are reputable. Hosting your bar, allows for more flexibility in who you hire to serve the alcohol.

I encourage clients to do their research and ensure that their non-licensed providers are fully insured, meet state guidelines for serving, and employment practices. The liability that falls on the host and venue is significant regardless of the state you are hosting in.

Although legalities may not be at the top of your list of concerns it is something that should be discussed and you are made aware of. Hiring your vendors takes time and it helps to know the right questions to ask. For bar services, if they are not fully insured and aware of proper serving practices you put yourself, your venue and your guests in a precarious situation. Do your part to ensure whomever you hire is reputable. You can tell a lot by the insurances your vendors carry. They should have a minimum of these insurances general liability, liquor liability, commercial driving insurance, and work comp. Anyone you hire should be able to produce these documents when requested. If they cannot you as a consumer put yourself at risk.

Companies that are licensed are held to the highest standards in the state. In California there are a variety of regulations that an off premise license holder must adhere to. These protect everyone. This also ensures that your event goes off without a hitch.
